Accounting periods and close

Without a period close any report can be disputed, because data for past months keeps changing. The close wizard runs routine operations step by step, locks the period with checksums and requires a separate permission to reopen it.

Plan Simplified close on all plans, the wizard with routine operations from the “Accounting” plan.

What is inside

  • Routine operations: depreciation, payroll accrual, deferred expenses, interest, currency revaluation, financial result
  • Wizard steps can be skipped only explicitly, with an entry in the log
  • Checks before closing: drafts, negative balances, unallocated payments
  • A correction in a closed period is made by reversal in the current one
  • Reopening: a separate permission, a justification and an audit log entry
  • Period checksums: number of postings, debit and credit turnover

Limits

A closed period accepts no changes. If an error must be fixed in that very period, a user with the permission reopens it, and all data consumers see the event.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to close every month?

For accrual-basis reports, yes: without a close, depreciation, revaluation and the financial result are not accrued. In simple mode the close is simplified and takes one step.

What will 1C see if a period is reopened?

A reopening event and reset checksums. After the new close the totals are recalculated, and the consumer reconciles the export again.
